Energy Ogre serves deregulated areas of Texas — places where residents and businesses can choose their own retail electricity provider. Homes on municipal or cooperative utilities without provider choice are not eligible, since there is no plan to shop for.

No. Switching retail providers is a billing change, not a physical one. Your local utility continues to deliver power over the same poles and wires, and reliability stays exactly the same. Only the company that bills you changes.

Energy Ogre includes early-termination fees in its math. If the projected savings outweigh the fee, switching now makes sense; if not, the Ogre schedules your move for the moment your contract expires so you never fall into a penalty month-to-month rate.
